LOOK OUT LONDON: #Comilona is headed your way.
Top Argentine chefs including Gonzalo Aramburu, Sole Nardelli, Martin Baquero and Pablo Del Río head to the UK to put Argentina’s eclectic fare on the food map and prove there’s more to it than a steak. (Though steak is really rather good.)
They’ll be hosted by Argentina transplant Diego Jacquet from Casa Malevo, a chef who’s been wowing London with his enterprises including Abasto butcher and wine merchant, and Zoilo, from 11-17 May.
Last night’s launch event at Puerto Madero’s Chila pulled out all the stops, showcasing Argentina’s ability to put together a fine spread, updating classic local dishes as well focusing on nueva cocina argentina (new Argentine cuisine).
Watch out world, for Patagonian trout gravlax, revuelto gramajo brought bang up to date and yerba mate ice-cream. The creamiest I’ve ever had. And fresh in from the Pampas, BEEF.
Translation: Comilona = feast. Go famished. And thirsty for the Rutini wine pairings.
Ph: a luscious and classic Argentine cut, bife de chorizo.
