When photographer Mario Testino and chef Gastón Acurio set up a museum and a workshop, respectively, in the same Lima district, it’s a royal seal of approval. A former aristocratic summer hot spot stuffed with elegant belle époque retreats, Barranco is now the Peruvian capital’s bohemian hub, perfect for stumbling across ateliers, galleries, fabulous restaurants and even an artisanal chocolate factory. And come summer, the ravine-top barrio is the place to watch the sun retire accompanied by a pisco punch.

Given that suitcases magically disappear, a glass of Champagne is thrust into weary hands, and eye-catching art immediately awakens the visual senses on arrival, it’s easy to mistake Hotel B’s lobby for a gallery opening.
